Re: HA Setup and Scheduled Tasks

The task is set on the server. However, you create a file that Solarwinds undertsands using the "unschedule task".

I'm probably over complicating this and I think I'm asnwering my own question, in a roundabout way. If an APE has a failover, then I imagine the windows task will need to be set on each box inteh failover pair, but when I tried that on the standby box, I got an erorr which I don't recall now what that was.

I think I'll raise a case to get this clarified.

Thanks for your time.

Here's what I use:

1.3.6.1.4.1.20992.1.2.2.1.14 - Signal_Received_Power

Hi,

I am new to SW and I have the same issue. May I know how you were able to solve the issue?

Alert supression notification?

Is it possible to get an alert or action after someone suppresses a node for specific device? Basically we have multiple teams managing the same devices and I'd like to know if its possible to alert specific team (via email or otherwise) when someone is doing maintenance on a node.

No. There's only 1 copy of the node in NPM and if someone sets that to mute, it is muted for everyone.

aware of that, just want to see if there's a way someone can get automatically notified when a node is put in suppression.

I’m on the train at the moment but I think there is an Audit Log event for this which you can alert on. Once I’m in the office I will check if someone hasn’t confirmed by then.

In alerts you can alert on if a node is unmanaged.

Hi,

I've just created a report where i display the peak transmit and peak received traffic of our firewall, only i don't know how to add the visibility of the max capacity available of this link.

Can someone explain how it's done.

FYI: i'm new to creating Solarwinds reports, apologies if this is a stupid question

I believe it shows up under either the interface speed or bandwidth.

ASR 1001 - X

Hi,

I have added a manual poller via Thwack Community to poll my ASR 1001-X and it is not supported. I also go to the PollerCheckerTool and find no details for my device.

Do i need an updated Solarwinds deployment, or how can I add support for this device?

Thanks

What version of NPM?

I'm not sure what you mean by manual poller but have you added this device into NPM via SNMP? I think that should show you all you most likely need.

Late, but still relevant: adding a vote for Citrix Netscalers, aka Citrix Application Delivery Controllers.

Mapping Question

Hello Thwackers,

When we go to a node and to the Map tab, we find that physical interfaces will show the node on the other side of the interface, while tunnel interfaces show only the interface itself and not the node on the other side. These are GRE tunnels, and we have modified the topology configuration file to include interface type 131. Also note that we are on NPM 12.3, which might be relevant as I know mapping has been enhanced in NPM 12.5. Questions:

1. Is this be design, meaning we can't have a map that shows both side of a tunnel interface?

2. Has this changes with NPM 12.5?

Thanks Everybody, Brent

Progress tracking chart

Has anyone found a way to chart progress for IOS upgrades? Currently I do this in Excel, and I keep asking myself why I can't do this in Solarwinds it has all the pieces? I think I just need to put them together. My current process is to run a query every week, grab and store the obtained values in an excel doc which builds a chart and then present that to management when asked.  I just need to figure out a way to store the computed value on a schedule.

Is there a way to chart this as an interface or something of a 'fake' device?

Solarwinds doesn't normally keep a historical record of what image a device had at any given time.  It keeps the current value, plus the previous one, but no timestamp to chart the progress over days.  If you were feeling really fancy you could rig something up in NCM by running a daily show version and parsing that down and then using sql to count how many devices do or don't have the desired version installed on them, but unless you have a desire to get into the weeds in SQL you are probably best off just doing what you already do.

Installation of DPA, VMAN, SRM and NPM

Hi,

I am looking to install DPA, VMAN, SRM and NPM asap, do they need installing on separate servers (seem to remember seeing a thread regarding DPA and NPM not installing on the same server).

I plan on creating a single SQL server to host the DB's for the software.

Anything else that I should be aware of?

cheers
