You could try and Advanced alert, use a custom SQL alert, select the type of property to monitor of Node, then add this into the text box. Join Traps on Traps.NodeID = Nodes.NodeIDWhere Traps.DateTime...

It may be easiest to have the trap alert action to update a file.Then have a file age monitor run every 5 minutes.  If the file age isn't within 5 minutes of the current time then generate your alert.

What mharvey posted was exactly what I had in mind. It will automatically be generated per ESX host because the property to monitor is selected as Node and you are joining on the NodeID in the SQL...

I have increased the Polling Settings for ICMP timeout and SNMP timeout to 4000 ms. I'm still seeing this behavior but as before it is only effecting our Firewall node type.
