My nightmare continues...
Slowly and slowly I have been making progress with getting my IT organization to see what my Solarwinds dashboards is saying. So this is a good thing, right? Now, I have based my entire IT career on gaining some sort of satisfaction on helping people, being that IT Hero. And I thought I would be in this case with my Solarwinds by finding all of the problems with the network and servers. Nope! Now I have become the bullseye for all issues and the goto for all resolutions. At least three times a day I have to ask, "Is SNMP enabled on that device?" and... "How can I monitor it if I don't know the IP?" Keep in mind that I am a team of 1.
I am slowly beginning to win the war with Executive-Level dashboards. Whereas network teams who manage their Solarwinds are careful in what detail they want their Execs to see, I do not have that constraint. I get to change their views often... and strategically... to what I want to draw their attention to.
