they have the same principle in programming, I have a degree in computer programming with a focus in networking and they have the same principle as the janitor one. Often times bad programmers are bad and as a result they monkey around with the variables and the logic until it seems like it works even if they have no idea why. Although programmers call it rubber duck coding, where you explain the logic of your program to a rubber duck, doing a trace of the whole thing and hope that while you're explaining it you'll see the logical error you overlooked before. It really helps when you're coding at home, and following the whole code drunk, troubleshoot sober axiom (unless the language is self documenting, then you have no excuse as to why there are no comments and you have no idea what you were thinking).
