For my team, we all focus exclusively on network monitoring, and use SolarWinds 90% of the day. However, we are a bit unique in that we are not a support team. With regards to the original post; my entire job revolves around maintaining our network infrastructure monitoring tools for all of our worldwide data centers. So I can say with 100% certainty that an enterprise environment such as ours requires more than 1 full time employee to maintain their monitoring/management solutions. Heck, we just do network monitoring; there are much larger teams that focus solely on servers and apps.
