For reasons unknown to me, I continue to see our company's budget allowing more money to be allocated to various other departments, and less money being allocated for our "mission critical" systems. My brain and I would think to take care of all "mission critical" systems first, allocating the remaining budget throughout the other departments. I would like to have a complete system, backing up configs from all the different vendors/devices throughout our network. Instead, we are simply backing things up manually, keeping fingers crossed, and hoping all the bad stuff happens to someone else somewhere else...
